i herd somewhere that the term "wormhole" is just a metophore which indicates a worm going through an apple instead of around it. and that a wormhole, commonly (scientificly) is known as an inter dimentional conduite, now can you star trek geniuses confirm everything i just said

A wormhole is like a bunghole, but smaller.

A wormhole is a funnel through space, warping the space-time continuim so that ships can travel thousands of light-years in seconds. Don't worry about all the big words, I don't know what they mean either.

Its basically a tunnel from point a to point b, only very far apart. the wormhole creates a shortcut...and its really fast to get to a to b. Imagine getting to LA from London in under an hour.

Only a lot faster, like getting from here to Andromeda (2 million LY away) in about 2 minutes.

A WORMHOLE IS A RUPTURE IN SUBSPACE THAT BREAKS DOWN A STRUCTURE AND LOBS IT ACROSS A CERTAIN AREA OF SPACE. ALTHOUGH, A WORMHOLE IS ONLY A THEORY, AS ONE HAS NEVER BEEN SIGHTED.

CHECK YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY.

Please.

A wormhole is like this:

Imagine the rastered thingy (space time) continuuing for a while and then turning, like a bended piece of paper. Somone travelling without the wormhole wouldnt notice he'd just been flying a loop since humans can't directly observe/detect the fourth dimension (spacetime). But he did travel a much greater distance than he'd travel using the wormhole.
