I personally think they would have been a great couple, as would Janeway and Q (hehe) but as Kate Mulgrew said, Janeway and Chakotay wouldn't have been that practical - "imagine it, 'Red Alert - Commander, my quarters now!'"

Definatly, they were in love in about all the seasons but then they had to pair him up with Seven.

Oh no...no no no. Absolutely no way.  I suppose I'm biased because I love Janeway and can't stand Chakotay, but I just think they were so different as people, I just don't think they were meant for eachother, ever. They would have looked ridiculous together in my opinion!

I have never been able to figure out the whole Janeway/Chakotay thing... there seems to be such a definite chemistry between them and then suddenly, whoof, its gone! I know a few people who have commented the same thing so don't think it can be my imagination. I wonder if it was intended to be a storyline and then for some reason the idea got dropped.

J/C was overall the best couple but they took attention away from P/T
then people made C/T and J/P

I think that it would have been way to...obvious.
I mean, I like to pair random people up: 7 and Neelix, B'Elanna and Harry, ect...
Although, I must admit that for one episode I thought they were going to make a cute couple. (The episode in which they are stranded on a planet together...)
I'm glad they didn't get together- but I'm sad that Chakotay had to go with 7.
