PostFri Feb 15, 2008 2:30 pm    Endgame - am I the only one who though it was great?

I know this might go against popular opinion, but i actually thought it was brilliant. sure, i would have liked a maybee more emotionall return home, but the point was that it was not about the destination, rather the journey.
I thought kate did a great job.

lol. Just because we criticize something, doesn't mean we didn't like it.

Endgame part 1/2 was one of the best voyager episodes. They beat the borg, broke the temporal prime directive, and got home. I think that they should have continued the series after endgame. That would have been interesting.

Simply one of the best! I would've liked Q to appear somewhere in it though.

PostSat Mar 22, 2008 4:17 am    To be honest...

When I first saw it, i was trifle disappointed. Especially after a fan faric grandeur final episode of the Next Generation (All Good Things) I kinda expected a lil more than this..

In my opinion, it would be more realistic, more emotional, that Voyager made it home, with the ship battered and damaged beyond repair, crew barely survived, but they made it.

Bit like a history repeat here. There was a Tall Ship in the past that did exactly that. The captain got his crew home, despite all that ship got left is a few planks, and a few square metres of sails...

But who am I to argue with Star Trek Writers?

I thought it was brilliant too! I always loved eps with timetravel, so this was a double bonus for me. I really loved it, especially to see how the future could be (Tuvok going insane, Seven and Chakotay dead.. ) but also the new future, with the borg involved in the end battle.
Just a really great ending for such a great show!

It has way too many plot holes for me to enjoy it.

Why did Janeway feel the need to go back in time to selfishly save her crew? On top of that, she didn't even save her entire crew. She saved a select few that she favored above others. I take it the others that died in the 7 year journey didn't deserve to live?

What about the alien species that VOY would help/save in the years that the ship was meant to be in the Delta Quadrant? Who cares? In that case, who cares about the Ocampa? Why not just go back to when VOY was about to be swept away and save it?

On top of that, there was no real closure. What happened to the Borg? What happened to the crew when they got home? What happened to the future technology? Janeway erased twenty years of the future and she is promoted?

Stupid...

she picked that time because they had the perfect opportunity to get home... Future janeway didn't have a speacial device that took them directly to earth.

Couldn't she have taken them back in time to when they found a wormhole to the Alpha Quadrant but rather than using it, she violated the Prime Directive to send 2 Ferengi back and squandered their chance. That was far back enough to have saved at least 15 redshirts.

Not to mention, it would have missed alot of crew development... the EMH for example. And no Seven.

mediocre. the writers tried to do something like all good things come... and it just didnt work for me. it was featured Janeway too much, and it was the same plot as the episode when harry and chakotay go back in time. the only thing i liked was the way they got home (via the borg network) But that was ruined because the show simply ended. The writers had to know that there was going to be no movie or follow up to voyager. Voyager's following wasnt big enough. hell, half the crew might have even quit starflleet after that journey. but we will never know. and i think its ridiculous when people say use ur imagination. the strange workplace episodes did more for me.

i totally agree with ur point about why not going back further to prevent others on her crew from dying. how about joe carey. i think she was secretly in love with 7

I loved Endgame, it is one of my favorite episodes. I loved the part where Janeway double crossed those klingons.

PostTue Dec 30, 2008 8:11 pm    I like endgame. Don't you?

I don't thing the writers cared for anymore explaining as far as story development. This involved Janeway with her time travel, the Borg, Seven with her implants and anything else about what happened next. What they did do is take another step in technological finesse; like exploding entire Borg cubes with a beam and driving Voyager through a transwarp tunnel in the network- even though the Borg were more than alert about re-connoitering and destroying the ship.
If you look back the writers were rather devious with their plot twists and character enhancements. I think the gum ball finally dropped from the machine.

It wasn't that bad I still hate admiral Janeway for even saying that Chakotay and Seven get married

I think Endgame had it all: the homecoming fireworks, the 10 years later (everyone wondered deep down inside how things would go on after they got home), the most important and coolest arch enemies of the series: the Borg, the main attraction Seven brought into focus, and Janeway is so good we have to have two of her! And I think it was a great idea to put the homecoming ceremonies to the beginning, because we got to have an ending that really summed up the show: the captain in full power at the helm of her ship! And while many argue on the Chakotay-Seven twist, I think it was the best solution for Seven, I mean the doctor was brilliant but pairing him up with the blonde bombshell would have been a bit too far-fetched...
Janeway once said in an interview -before the real end was even thought up- that if the show ever ended she would see it as something simple and brilliant: the beloved face zoomed in and that's that. Good choice.
Plus the episode itself had really good action all the way, Voyager exploding out of a borg vessel was..well, the bomb!

Watched it again on Bravo the other night, first time I had seen it in ages, and really loved it. Loved the bit where the Doctor catches Reg Barclay out (makes his stammer return, poor chap!), love where Janeway double crosses the Klingons (yay!), do think younger Janeway might have gasped a bit more when she saw her older self, thought B'Elana in labour was brilliant, and the Borg Queen (Alice Krige) was awesome (as ever,), love the way she talks. I think its kind of lacking excitement at the end ("It'll all be in my report" is a bit bland), but do agree with thought that it was more about "the Journey" than the return.

I just wish there was a "what happened when they got home" episode, but guess any follower of a good series always wants more.
