I really hated it. It was abrupt and unsatisfactory, and Neelix back in the Alph Q wpuld be really interesting material. The Talaxian colony should have come with Voyager and settled in the Federation. The DQ ambassador should be some crewman who doen't want to go home.

Well, technically he wasn't a member of the crew in the sense that he wasn't enlisted - he was a passanger who became a part of their family. It did make a challenge for the crew to adapt without him, and highlighted the fact that they weren't on a permement home.

It didn't really bother me that much. However, if I had to go an entire season or more without him, I would've been unhappy.

I liked Neelix a lot, and I, too, was disappointed when he left. So I sympathize with you, Starfleet. Pardon the pun (As in, Voyager. B'Ellanna called Harry in particular "Starfleet" for a time. Okay, so it's not that funny, but so what. It's still a pun )

I must say the captain let him go because he was too dumb.

Aw dats mean he wasn't dumb, Neelix was just a "let it go" kind of guy. The one that didn't like to get into trouble up until he served on the USS Voyager. I think that made him realize some things about himself that he never thought he could do...or say.lol

I LOVED Neelix! It was sad to see him go - almost brought a tear to the eye. He left in the last season though, so it wasn't too bad. My only trouble is that if anyone continues the story, it'd be tough writing Neelix back into the plot. The two Voyager books sadly didn't have Neelix in which disappointed me a little.

Ahk! I loved Neelix, but I do think that it was right for him to leave the show. I mean it was time for his character to find love again, to find his people again. Neelix was family yes, but I don't think he really ever was 100% part of the crew, it was always like he was a 'guide' to the Voyager crew. But yeah, I think it was good for the story line.

Yes, it was so stupid. Neelix should have remained on the ship. The whole episode was so silly. Voyager encounters a Talaxian colony thousands of lightyears from talaxian space. Now how would the Talaxians travel that far when Voyager had to have some extraordinary help to do so. It's like I would run into people from my hometown while climbing ashore the Antarctic continent. Just another badly written story to get rid of a main character.

As I see it, both Neelix and Kes should have been on the ship when they reached Earth.

I think if they were going to have him leave, it should have been earlier than a couple episodes before the end of the show. Season six would have been fine. It just seems kind of tragic he came all that way with them and then right before they actually manage to get home, he leaves the ship.

But see, I dont think that it is that tragic though. I mean to us the end of season seven is just that, the end. We don't see anything past that because well they aren't producing the show past that point. But to Neelix, as well as the rest of the crew, It is just the start of another great adventure. Neelix is helping his fellow Talaxians with their society and is the liason for the AQ. I mean that is a huge responsibility and honor. I just think that it was okay for him to go when he found the right path. And he did.

I suppose. To me it just seemed like he had been planning what he would do when he got to earth, and had been just as excited about getting there as the rest of the crew was. In addition, the decision seemed kind of rash. How long had he known these people? I would have really had to be very sure that I was ready to make a commitment to them before leaving the ship permanently. I was really just sad because I wanted to seem him get to earth.

I changed my mind on one thing though; I am glad they waited until the end to have him leave. While he is not one of my favourite characters, I think the show would have definitely been missing something without him.

I agree with you there, the show wouldnt have been the same, I mean it even felt different the last few episodes without him on the ship. But I think that he saw the Talaxians as his people, voyager being his family, and sometimes you have to leave your family to be 'yourself' Just one of those things I suppose.

honestly Neelix was never a favorite of mine, but i think it was pretty stupid to have him leave two episodes before the finale. What was the point in that?

With the character itself, I found it odd that he was willing to fly halfway across galaxy with a group of stranded strangers determined to get 70,000 LY away from any known territory.

Am I the only one who found it odd that there are people of his race scattered across 40-50,000 LY in so small a time period from their native planet's destruction?

It was normally going to take 70 years for Voyager to cover that distance, and here are with a Talaxian colony who made it this far in only 7, and Voyager had some serious help cropping that time down...They were only 10 years away before the last episode.

That's a good point Jupiter!

I did think it was odd that Neelix left so close to the end.
I wasn't particularly bothered by his leaving... however if he had left earlier I might have thought differently. Neelix is annoying, but frustratingly likeable and I feel that if he had left season 6 I might have actually missed him

I think it was right for Neelix to go when he did, because he had been an integral part in many of the episodes leading up to his departure. I think it was a very fitting departure for him, as I must agree with the dear Colonel - it was time for Neelix to find love again! And it was very nice I think, that it happened to be a group of Talaxians that he settled with, as I think we all know how much that would of meant to him.

I must disagree with StarfleetCommand74656, however...I think it would have been an absolutely terrible idea for Voyager to take the Talaxians with them, even if it had only been a few, such as Dexa and Brax. And, although having Dexa and Brax aboard Voyager would most likely have meant that Neelix could stay, they wouldn't have had enough time to Develope the three character's relationships because the series was about to end within a couple of episodes!

So, in a nut shell, I am very please with the way they got rid of Neelix, I think it was very fitting!

XD

About the talaxians- that's the idea, they don't have to have a whole new faction taking up space for a season, like the Borg children.

It was a very bad idea because he is in my top 8's, and he is the best server ever.

I was pretty upset when he left. I don't think it was a good idea. They did keep in contact with him in the last few episodes, but the light humor just wasn't the same....who else was better to balance the seriousness of Tuvok or the split personalities of the Doctor?

Well he left 2 epsodes before the end so it's not a big deal. I loved Neelix, he was the most interesting complex character, he had such a dark past and he was such a cheerful person. He suffered so much loss in his life, that I was happy for him when he found the other Talaxians and someone to love. I was realy happy for him, everyone should have someone to love. You could tell that he was lonely on the ship and I think he would have been lonely on Earth. Everyone wants to be with their own kind, people feel lonely and ackward when they are the only ones of their kind. Even B'Elanna had said that it was uncomfortable for her being the only Klingon on board.
