Does anybody think that, if they were real, Vulcans could really resist nature's call for reproduction for 7 years? They might live 200 but that's only 28 times attempted. Sounds like a year's work for humans. Any comments?

EDIT: 4/23/2009
Wow! This poll is really surprising! Either nobody is reading what this is about, or my opinion is highly disputed.

Well it's more believable than a 1000-year fxxkfest!

Vulcans are nature's way of telling us: sex is overrated. Life should be much more than a desperate run after sex.

If they didn't go through it then we wouldn't have Blood Fever

That is if you are in a relationship or married. WHere are the weeks and months when you're out of relationship? Well, at least we don't die for the lack of it...

Vulcans. Pon Farr. You wouldn't think the two would go together- but they do.

I've always loved the Vulcans- and yes, it started with Spock's first Pon Farr. Ever since then, I've always loved the idea of Vulcans having to go through the Pon Farr.

I'm not sure what to say about it, though. It makes for very interesting episodes, such as Blood Fever, but it's so...wierd that I just don't know what to think of it.

It's obviously serious, and it could be the biological way of forcing a Vulcan to pro-create. Think of it. Vulcans don't show emotions. Assuming that all Vulcans practice this, that would mean that very few Vulcans would actually mate willingly, right? So maybe, this Pon Farr is a biological way of forcing the Vulcans to re-produce, thus not making them extinct.

It's the only 'logical' conclusion that I can come to right now.

I say "Live Long and Prosper".
Then you say "Peace and Long Life".
It's the way of life.
Don't deny it.
LOVE IT.
OR DIE.
