PostThu May 05, 2005 6:24 am    Species 8472 - One of the best alien races?

I dont know about anybody else, but I thought that the episodes with Species 8472 are amongst some of the best - its like watching 'Voyager Meets Alien'!! I think that moment on the Borg ship at the start of Scorpion where Harry Kim is just standing there along and its stalking them was superb!

Ive seen a couple of epsiodes with them in but does anyone have a full rundown of all the names of the ones with them in???

What does everyone else think of them - one of the best?? And could they be in a future movie...?

They're in "Scorpion Pt I & II" (Season 3 & 4), "In the Flesh" (Season 5)

You also see a picture of them on the holodeck in "Someone to Watch Over Me" (Season 5)

I am not sure, but wasn't In The Flesh the last episode with 8472 in it? I really hoped to see them again, in perhaps just one or two more episodes later in VOY, and was kind of dissappointed that there was really not too much further interaction between them.

Species 8472 have been my favorite species ever since I watched Scorpion. Still my favorite episode. I love how they just plow right through the borg and destroy planets. It sort of reminds me of the punisher, except they were going to take out the entire galaxy or something. I'll have to go watch Scorpion again.

Species 8472 was one of the few Species that could stand up against the borg, and they kicked their ass! Of course they are cool.

They were awesome! I wish there would have been an episode inside of fluidic space.

The cost of the CGI to create 8472 probably limited their appearances. Shame though as they would have made interesting plot changes for the series.

I for one think the same that they should appear in one of the ST movies

Although fluidic wasnt that interesting I still think that the Scorpion episodes were fantastic!!

I think Species 8472 shoudl invade Earth for the next movie with Admiral Janeway leading the fight against them - now that would be good!

Didn't they agree to stop being evil? There was that episode where they had their own replica of earth

They did indeed call a 'truce' when Voyager found the outpost where they were running the 'Earth' simulation in preparation for an invasion, but if i remember right they said that they would try to pusuade the others to believe them but couldnt guarentee that they would believe them..

I think it left it open for a confrontation?? Also in the same episode Janeway agreed to share the nanotechonolgy that they used against them in Scorpion, so their forst line of defense would now be useless!!

Oh. I liked the idea of them being allies with Earth.

Janeway: Your majesty, Mrs Borg queen, I've got a new friend I'd like you to meet
Species 8472: Heh heh heh
Borg Queen: Oh *beep*

Heh, I'd love to see that happen, except 8472 would make one of those cool screeching noises. I so want to see 8472 kick some more borg ass, partly because of their cool theme music

But of course, sugalips! Of course 8472 is a little nuttier than Mewto. When I say nuttier, I mean... scarrier!

I think they were a stroke of genius and should be used again in the future!
