I'm no huge TNG fan and Ive only started watching some episodes but I haven't seen Dr Crusher on the ship only a different doctor with short her. Did she replace Dr Crusher and if so why and when?

During Season 2 Dr. Pulaski was the Chief Medical Officer as Dr. Crusher left to do something or other at Starfleet Medical. Don't worry - Crusher comes back in Season 3,

I never really took to Pulaski but I do like Diana Muldaur and her work in various episodes, particularly an episode of The Incredible Hulk entitled "Homecoming" where she played the sister of David Banner.

I like Beverly too, but Gates McFadden is kind of a bad actress. Like when this guy gets shot in the holodeck and crusher stars to check him. And she asks for a pillow, and when she gets one, she puts the pillow under the guys HEAD! That's just BAD.

Well if u get shot, u'll start losing a lot of blood... And the brain is the most vital part in your body so you'd think that a doctor would try to lower the head, making the blood run to the brain. Anyone who knows about first aid would know that... But then again they are a few years ahead of us, maby they have come up with some new revolutions method, or something like that...

I don't see how that's Gates McFadden's fault. It was obviously written into her script, for her to do anything and everything she does,

The fans wanted McFadden back, they were really upset about the change from Crusher to Pulaski.

I sure wanted Gates McFadden to come back. The relationship between her character and Picard was (and still is) priceless...
