I may be creating a topic similair to a previous one, if so feel free to delete moderators. But I am curious about how many people like Sisko. I just saw a few DS9 episodes and I am now more familiar with the series but I must say I loathe Sisko. He is perhaps the most terrible actor I've ever seen. He dived at a woman with a gun in "In the Hands of the Prophets" and screamed the ever so cliched "Noooooo!" in slow motion. I burst out laughing. Maybe that's the fault of the director, I don't know.

I mean, there are anonymous aliens that only appear in one or two episodes that have unimportant roles that are better actors than him and are still terrible (i.e.: in the Voyager episode "Blink of an Eye" in which an alien woman clutches her stomach and falls over due to temporal difficulties; I laughed at that too because it was so ridiculous)

The bottom line is: How does he get away with being such a terrible actor?

(Sisko fans, please don't eat me)

I'll grant that he does have a tendency to overact sometimes. But don't prejudge him----he brings a flare to the role which grows on you over time.

In an effort to avoid another drawn out argument I won't dignify the above "comments" on Aver Brooks with a response.

I thought Avery Brooks did a wonderful job as Commander later Captain Sisko. Flare indeed! He took on the role of Sisko with pinache'... or was it spinach? Anyways, I think he's a great actor and though can never command the stage like Stewart can, he has niched himself a nice place in the world of Star Trek.

I guess he will have to grow on me. Lots of characters do...

And the title is indeed from Buffy, but also because I saw this episode where Sisko was very emotionless, by accident or design I know not. I'll just have to watch more DS9

I thought Avery Brook's job of acting out the character of Benjamin Laffayatte Sisko was amazing, I really thought he was good at not only acting out Starfleet's Best Strategist but also a really good lone-Father and a good Emissary for the god like prophets. I think Avery's Talents were best seen in episodes where he was under pressure like "IN the pale moonlight" or "Far beyond the stars" by the end of DS9 I had gotten so used to him as Captain Sisko that it kinda made me feel sad to see him leave the Linear realm without even saying his goodbyes to Jake. I honestly don't see how people could think him to be a bad actor, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion
